Drama Theater Skopje

The beginnings date back to 21.04.1946 with the first puppet show "Siljan Strkot" ("Siljan the Stork") based on the folk story, while as an independent Puppet Theater it operates since 1949. 
On 10.02.1958, with the first live performance of "The Prince and the Beggar" by Mark Twain and Sergey Mikhalkov,The Theater for Young Audience and Children is created.


In 1964, the Theater is joined by a group of eminent actors and actresses who leave the Macedonian National Theater.
In 1967, the performance of "Pokojikot" ("The Deceased") by Branislav Nusic wins the main prize for best performance at the "Steriino Pozorje" in Novi Sad, and soon after the performance is played at the Belgrade International Theater Festival -BITEF. After these events, the Theater receives the name Dramski Theater.

In the years the follow, the same Steriini prizes have been won by the following performances:
"Divo Meso" (1980) and "Kula Vavilonska" (1990) by Goran Stefanovski, while his "Jane Zadrogaz" (1975), "Erigon" by Jordan Plevnes (1982) and "Medeja" by Dane Zajc (1991) have won the special prize; the prize for best direction of a play has been awarded to Ljubisa Georgievski (twice) and Slobodan Unkovski (three times); the best actor has been awarded to: Krum Stojanov (twice), Meri Boskova, Milica Stojanova, Blagoj Corevski, Nenad Stojanovski (twice), Snezana Stameska, Liljana Bogoevic-Jovanovska, Petar Temelkovski, Gorgi Jolevski. The festival has awarded our theater many prizes for scenography, costume design, script, etc.
Main prizes for best actor at MECC (The Festival of Small and Experimental Stages) in Sarajevo, have been awarded to: Mite Grozdanov, Bagoj Corevski, Meto Jovanovski, Snezana Stameska, Petar Temelkovski, Biljana Belicanec-Aleksic, Nikola Ristanovski.
At the same festival, the main prize has been won by the performances: "Nothing" bu Arthur Kopit in 1972, "Osloboduvanjeto na Skopje" ("The Liberation of Skopje") by Dusan Jovanovic in 1979, ans "Erigon" by Jordan Plevnes in 1982.

Many main prizes for best actor have been won at the Theater Games "Vojdan Cernodrinski" in Prilep: Blagoj Corevski, Meto Jovanovski, Dragan Spasov, Lence Delova, Stevo Spasoski, Petar Temelkovski, Senko Velinov, Gorgi Jolevski, Dejan Lilic, Saso Tasevski, Iren Ristic, Liljana Velajnova, Maja Veljkovic-Panovska, Jelena Zugic, Nikola Ristanovski, etc., while at the Festival "Risto Siskov" in Strumica: Dime Iliev, Vladimir Angelovski, Petar Temelkovski, Igor Dzambazov, Senko Velinov and Dejan Lilic.

The Dramski Theater has made guest performances in France, Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Venezuela, Australia, all over ex-Yugoslavia, Turkey, Egypt, Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Albania, Canada, Columbia, at their national and international theater festivals.
